Payments, Refunds & Returns


SkyShed Observatories shall not be responsible for any inaccuracies, typographical error or omissions found on this website and e-commerce store. We reserve the right to make product information and pricing changes without notice. Specifications, features and promotions about products found on this web site may be changed at any time. By using this website or purchasing from SkyShed Observatories through our E-Commerce store (SkyShed Shop) you agree to these terms.

This information is for North American customers who purchase SkyShed products directly from SkyShed through this website. For all other customers please contact the retailer with whom you are placing, or have placed your order.

Payment – SkyShed products are custom or tailor made to your option choices, therefore full payment is required at  time of order.

We strive to ship your order as fast as possible. Due to the fact that they are custom or tailor made products, this normally takes between 8 to 12 weeks until we ship, and generally another week in transit to your location in North America. At certain times of the year or due to circumstances beyond our control, it may take longer. If this is the case we will update you are while you are waiting for your order to ship if the delay looks like it may go beyond the normal 12 week maximum time-to-ship. That said, most orders are shipped within 12 weeks.

Refund – Should you wish to cancel your order after placing it, and prior to the shipping date, we will refund 100% of your payment minus credit card or Paypal processing fees, which are generally 2-3%.

If you ordered by credit card we will reverse your payment, minus credit card processing fees, with the credit card processor immediately. If by Paypal we will issue a credit back to you, minus processing fees, immediately through Paypal.

If you paid with check-by-mail, please allow 2 weeks after the check is received for it to clear at our bank. In case of cancellation prior to shipping, we will issue a credit check, sent by postal mail within 15 days after your check clears.

Cancel While in Transit – If you wish to cancel your order after the POD has left the factory and is in transit to you, we will return your POD payment, minus the credit card or Paypal processing fees, minus the initial shipping cost, and minus the cost of turning around the POD in transit. This return payment can take over 30 days to process, as it takes some time to determine the cost of returning the mid-transit POD to the factory in Shallow Lake, Ontario. Refund payment is made via check-by-mail, regardless of initial payment method.

Return – If you wish to return the product within 30 days after it has been delivered, the product must be in good condition and you are responsible for the return shipping costs and appropriate packaging materials to our factory in Shallow Lake, Ontario. All returns after delivery are subject to a 15% re-stocking charge.

Returns are not accepted if you have failed to contact us by email or phone to begin the return process within 30 days of product delivery.

After almost two decades of POD and POD accessory sales, we’ve experienced less than a handful of cancellations, and one partial refund request after delivery. In the astronomical industry our personalized customer service is known as second to none. Whatever the reason for your refund, return, or cancellation, we will work with you to the best of our abilities to resolve the situation to your satisfaction.
